Achilles Tendon –Primary repair

The Achilles tendon is a strong, fibrous cord located in the lower leg that connects the calf muscles to the heel. Achilles tendon repair surgery is surgery to fix an Achilles tendon that has been damaged for any reason. Achilles tendon repair surgery is performed through an incision made in the back of the calf. The tendon may have degenerated or ruptured. If the tendon is torn, it is necessary to stitch the tendon back together. If it is degenerated, the damaged tendon should be removed and the remaining tendon should be repaired using stitches. If most of the tendons are severely damaged, some or all of your Achilles tendon may need to be replaced. In such cases, the replacement is done with a tendon taken from another part of your foot.
